Cavalieri é ainda professor universitário há mais de 40 anos e escreveu obras jurídicas no campo da Responsabilidade Civil, do Direito do Consumidor e da Sociologia Jurídica, tendo como principal obra o livro “Programa de Responsabilidade Civil”.

Sergio Cavalieri was Judge and President of the Court of Justice of the state of Rio de Janeiro, President of the extinct Civil Court of the same State and Director General of the School of Magistrates of Rio de Janeiro (EMERJ), of which he is Emeritus Professor.
Cavalieri has also been a university professor for over 40 years and has written legal works in the field of Civil Liability, Consumer Law and Legal Sociology, with the main work being the book “Program for Civil Liability".
